Anju was in tears.

“Unakkenna mannil Vaazhum ithayam adi ..
Uyirullavarai naan un adimai adi “

Vinay and Anju shifted to the new house , the next week.

Vinay had done all the shifting before he took Anju there.

The master bedroom was huge and spacious in the ground floor.

There where two rooms upstairs. One guest room.

Anju: what are we gonna do with the other big room Vinay?

Vinay: see it for yourself. He took her upstairs

There was another surprise for Anju

The room was filled with the paintings which Anju had done from her childhood.
Anju had a passion for Painting, but she had stopped doing them recently. She had told him about this before marriage in a casual talk.

Vinay: Now you can continue with your interests here

“It’s not a big deal to get a life partner who loves you, but it is, to get a soul mate who loves & respects your interests too … “

Every day Vinay would wake up early, prepare the breakfast before Anju woke up. They also hired a maid to help her.

Vinay started going to office three months after their marriage. Before he left he would also prepare lunch and would feed breakfast to her.

The minor injuries had now cured and she had started to get her physiotherapy treatment for walking.

Vinay used to apply the ointment to her knees everyday and would leave notes for her. Vinay and anju had this habit of leaving notes in papers even in this mobile phone culture. They loved it that way .

Every day evening Vinay would take her out in her wheel chair. Vinay would discuss about his experience in his new office and Anju would talk about what she did the whole day, the painting which she did and about the neighbors visiting her.

The colony was a pleasant one with not much of a crowd around and away from the city. The neighbors were friendly and caring to Anju. One or another visited her everyday and she was always occupied by the kids in the colony.

The kids would learn paintings from her and she also helped them with their homework

Vinay’s Grandparents visited them once in a week. Vinay and Anju had asked them to stay with them but they refused to. Vinayak thatha preferred to stay in adayar where he got used to for several years.

Anju was completely alright six months later. The most difficult days in her life had gone with much ease because of her husband.

 First wedding anniversary:

Vinay was late from office for the past few days. Anju would stay awake to serve him dinner, late in the night.

She wanted to talk to him but never got time to. He looked too busy when he was at home.

Even on weekends he was staying out for most of the time. Anju started feeling lonely

“En kaadhal puriyalaya
Un istam anbae po
En kanavu kalainthaalum
Ne irunthaai anbae po”

Vinay had left home early today. Anju was almost in tears when she woke up . he could have at least wished me before leaving, she taught. It was a Sunday and she taught he might return home for lunch and started preparing lunch.

It was almost evening and Vinay had not returned home. Anju was upset. She was sitting in the dining table for hours now.

5 Pm:

Vinay had returned home. Anju was almost in tears but he never seemed to look at her.

Vinay: Anju! Get ready soon. We are going out!

Anju: Vinay… where are we going?

Vinay: We are going to the city. We’ll be returning back tonight. Please get ready soon. We are leaving home in half an hour.

Has he forgotten this day? How can he? Where is he taking me out to? Vinay is acting strange these days 

Vinay was driving the car and didn’t talk much to her. Anju kept herself calm.

They reached an Art gallery in Adayar. The place was Crowded and it looked like an exhibition. It was the first time she visited the place.

Anju was totally confused as to why he had brought her here.
Anju: Vinay! What’s this place? Why are we here? Will you please answer me at least now?

Her tone was low and sad, her eyes was almost in tears .

Vinay just smiled at her, took her arms into his.

Vinay: Happy Anniversary My dear Wife!!!!

Anju: Hugged him and started to cry. Idiot! you know how bad I felt? I was waiting for this from morning and you’re wishing me now.

Vinay tried to console her and started walking inside the gallery.

Anju: why are we here Vinay?

Vinay: come and see for yourself

The Gallery was filled with various Paintings from renowned as well as new Artists from all parts of the country. Artists, celebrities and a lot of people had gathered for the exhibition.

Anju started to gaze through the paintings.

When they walked to the centre of the hall, it was crowded in front of one of the paintings.

Anju was merely shocked to see her paintings hanging there.

The portrait of a small girl sitting outside her house which she had painted was at the centre. The painting had fascinated everyone out there.

Critics and renowned artists were all admiring her work and were full of praises.

Anju was the centre of attraction there and she was completely out of the world.

She had to breathe hard, trying to bring down herself. She had never expected this.
This is the first time her painting has been kept for display in an exhibition.

She was in for more surprise when Anju’s Dad walked towards her.

She was in tears but this time of happiness

Anju’s dad and her relatives had all come to Chennai that same day, Vinay had done the arrangements.

She came to know that Vinay had been working hard for days for this exhibition thing. He had to travel to places to make the arrangements.

Vinay: How is my Gift dear?

Anju was lost for words at the moment. He ran to him and hugged him.
He loves me and never fails to love me every moment!!!!

They all had dinner together and Anju’s dad and relatives had to leave to Coimbatore that same night.

Anju requested her dad to stay for a while with her, but he had to attend a family function the next day and had to leave.

Anju and Vinay were driving back home along the ECR. It was a pleasant drive. Anju was lying on his shoulders and enjoying the moment.

They had almost reached their colony.

Anju: Vinay shall we take a walk!

Vinay: sure dear!

They started walking towards their villa.

Anju: Vinay! You wanna know my gift?

Vinay: you have one for me?

Anju: The most precious thing you would ever want to have in this world.

Vinay was so curious.

Vinay: hey Anju whats that? Please da ! Don’t play with my patience!

Anju: Close your eyes and give me your hand.

Anju took his hand and kept it on her tummy.

Anju: “we are gonna have a Baby soon, Vinay”

Tears broke down from Vinay’s eyes. The best ever thing he could have waited for in his life time.

The Most happiest moment for any couple in the world.

Once again Words Fail here to express the extent of happiness Vinay and Anju had that moment.

Ten days later:

It was 8 in the morning and Vinay was dressed up and ready when Anju woke up. She was surprided to see him sitting in a chair opposite to her and looking at her.

Anju: hey! Good morning …. In a lazy tone

Vinay: Good morning dear! Slept well?

Anju: Yeah! What are you doing here…Sitting and starring at me?
Vinay: I just Love starring at my wife 

Anju was blushing.

Anju: ah huh! so why has my husband got up so early and dressed up ready ?

Vinay: I have to go to office right. Have to report at the local office here in mean time.

Anju’s face turned up pale . She didn’t wanna miss him, not now .

Vinay, looking at her reaction, started to laugh.

He came close to her

Vinay: my dear! I’m not going anywhere without you. So come on let’s get you ready and we’re going out.

He helped her to get on to her wheel chair.

Vinay took Anju outside for the first time after their marriage. Anju did not have any idea where he was taking her to but still she loved the Long drive with Vinay, lying on his shoulders.

Anju: Vinay! When should you be reporting in your office back in US?

Vinay: Don’t worry about that Anju! It’s gonna take long.

But still Anju felt some pain inside. She wouldn’t be able to go with him at this stage. She knew that she would miss him like hell.

They reached a Colony of Villas located in Ijambakkam in ECR. Vinay stopped the car in front of of one of the villas and took Anju with him inside.

Anju:’ Vinay where are we? Whose place is this?

Vinay: you’l come to know

Anju : but why is it locked?

Vinay: Shhh.

And Vinay opened the door and took her in.

Anju had no clue. She was wondering why they where there. The house was beautifully decorated with Pleasant interiors and antiques and a high ceiling living room.

Vinay: Anju ! How is this place?

Anju: awesome Vinay! Look at the interiors, the Living room is wonderful and the Lawn outside is just perfect. Whose place is this?

Vinay: (with big smile) : it’s ours

Anju couldn’t believe what she heard. She was shocked and surprised. She never expected this.

Anju: But Vinay! You would be leaving to US soon right?

Vinay: No dear. Am not going anywhere! Am gonna be with you forever and this is where we are gonna Be.

Anju was still in the shock  .

More than the beautiful villa and everything around, she loved that Vinay is gonna stay with her. That’s worth more than anything for her. Even a small hut would make her happy if he would be there with her J.All she wanted was Vinay and wanted him to be with her.

She was almost in tears and asked him to come closer and give her a hug.

“Uyirae uyirae !!! unnaivida ethuvum ulagil perithai illai adi “

Anju: but what about you’re Job?

Vinay: I quit!

Anju: what …. ? But.. Why?

Vinay: I don’t wanna leave my wife and go.

Anju:But you loved that job and that place right? I would be here for three to four months and come there with you when am alright na.

Vinay: I don’t wanna leave my Anju here not even for day. I am not going anywhere without you.I have joined here in a MNC and that would be Good for both of us .After all my wife likes to be here in her homeland and I love her!

Vinay was waiting at the entrance of the temple. He could see Anjana’s car coming from a distance.

Anju’s dad helped her in getting out of the car. He took the wheel chair and helped her sit in the chair and took her into the temple.

She was wearing a maroon silk sari, looked simple yet beautiful .Vinay was in traditional dhoti. He had made all arrangements by himself. Close relatives from both the sides and their friends were all there. It was a small ceremony.

Vinay tied the knot when the Nadashwaram notes played the ‘Getti Melam’, and the entire crowd stood to bless the couple .

Anjana now belonged to Vinay and Vinay belonged to Anjana

This was the moment of their life

Vinay lifted her in his arms and took her around the ‘Agnipeedam’ making Fire the witness of their Love Life (Agni Saakshi).

‘Marriages are engaged at heaven, but this one took place in heaven ‘ ”

They got the blessing from Vinay’s grandparents and Anju’s dad.

He took her to the car which was adorned with Beautiful flowers.

They returned to the Vinay’s apartments.

The surgery started by 8PM.

Vinay and others were waiting outside the operation theatre praying…

12:30: the doctors have said that she was out of danger now and there is nothing to worry about the clot. However it will take another 6 hours for her to recover conscious.

Vinay and others were hugely relieved and only then he was able to breathe in…
Anju woke up conscious at 7AM in the morning.

By that time Anju’s family and Vinay’s family were all there. But Vinay was alone missing.
She wanted Vinay with her now but he was not there

Anju felt the pain in her heart now !!

Tears started rolling from her eyes !! and that’s when Vinay entered the room with bandages around his head and hands.

Anjana didn’t know what had happened to him. Vinay came closer to her and took her hand to console her.‘

Don’t worry dear!! You’ll be alright!!’

She tried to move her hand towards his head.

“Nothing to me da!! Just a small injury.. Am fine “- Vinay tried to console her.

Anju was in hell a lot of pain but his presence made her forget everything!!!

‘I want him near me forever’-she thought!!! what else would a girl expect from a guy !!

“Uyirae uyirae inru unnodu kalandhuvittaen

Ninaivae ninaivae undhan nenjodu niraindhuvittaen”

Nisha moved closer to anjana .. she was not able to bare to see her friend in pain.

Anju’s family members also moved closer to her to console her, except for her dad who was waiting outside the room.

Vinay came out of the room to talk to him.

Nisha said ‘ you are so lucky Anju! to get someone like Vinay!

You know what happened Anju !! ” and she started

5 hours ago :

Nisha was crying near the Operation theatre and Jithin was trying to console her!!

“No Jithin we should not have dropped her and left !! that bloody mahesh was following us and we didn’t know that how he could do that to anjana ” Nisha was screaming…

Vinay was shocked to hear this!!! so this was intentional and it was someone who knew her !!!

Damn it!!!
He rushed towards Jithin and started shouting

“Who the hell is he?”

Jithin told everything that happened before. Vinay was furious now!

He rushed to the mansion where mahesh and his friends were staying.

There were four guys drinking. Vinay didn’t wait for a moment; he rushed into the room, took bottles in both his hands and broke them on two of the guy’s heads.

Before they could react he started to thrash each and every one of them. Soon they were able to hold him. They started to strike him, but Vinay tried to pull whatever he got and thrashed them!!!

Jithin entered the room in minutes but before he could pull Vinay out he had already beaten them to death and also he was hurt badly!!!

He tried to lock those guys inside and came out dragging Vinay.

‘How dare they hurt my Anjana!!!? ?’ Jithin took Vinay back to the hospital. Vinay was sitting near you all the night looking after you Anju !! He loves you more than any of us da …

“En jeevan jeevan neethanaey! ena thondrum neram ithu thaaney
Nee illai illai endraalae, en nenjam nenjam thaangathey”

Anju’s dad was still worried looking at his daughter’s condition.

He was standing outside.‘How would i get her married in this situation!! It will take months for her to be normal..’ he thought .Vinay was standing behind him when he turned.

Vinay started ‘ uncle!!’

‘you would have had a lot of dreams about your daughter’s marriage like every dad.
But at this stage we may not be able to …

he paused for a moment..Anju’s dad was almost broken ..

Vinay started again…

We may not be able to have a grand marriage event! But I want to marry her soon.
Next week, as soon as she is discharged from hospital. I want her as mine. I want to take care of her myself’

‘Will you agree for this uncle? ‘ Vinay was almost pleading to himAnju’s dad was in tears now!!

He was speechless for a moment.

He just smiled with tears filled in his eyes!!

Once again words fail to express the emotions here….

Episode -7

Vinay had wished her first when they were talking over the phone that night and she was so happy and was longing to see him.

“Unnudan irukayile nilavukum siragugal mulaikirathe
Ithuvarai nanum partha nilava
Ithanai velicham kodutha nilava
Unnudan nadakayile en ninal kandamai mariyathe
Munne munne nam ninalgal
Ondrai ondrai kalakindrathe”

She had reached Chennai early in the morning. Nisha and her dad were in the station to receive Anju.

Nisha’s Brother Jithin was one year senior to them in college (Mahaligam Engineering, Pollachi) and knew Anju very well. She was like a second sister to him and more of a daughter to his parents.

Mahesh was Jithin’s classmate and he was behind Anjana in college days. He had proposed to Anju when she was in third year. Anju refused and he was creating all sorts of trouble before Jithin interrupted and solved the issue.

Mahesh was now working with Jithin in a Private firm, Chennai and also resided near Jithin’s house in a mansion with his friends. Jithin avoided Mahesh and never got in touch with him after the college days.

Anjana and Nisha were in City Centre Mall, doing some shopping with Jithin. Anju had planned to meet Vinay in the evening. She told him that she was in Chennai and asked him to come to the coffee shop At Adayar.

Vinay was surprised and happy hearing that and promised her that he would be there by 5PM sharp.

Mahesh and his friends were also in the Mall. He saw Anju with Nisha and Jithin and came to talk to her. He was drunk and Anju could sense it. Jithin interrupted Mahesh from talking to her and when he forced Jithin just pushed him away and they started moving from that place.

They finished their shopping and left the mall. Anju told them that she is gonna meet Vinay in Adyar. Jithin and Nisha dropped her in front of the Coffee shop by 4.50. Jithin asked her what time she would return, to pick her from there. Anju told she would come along with Vinay

‘OHhhhhhh ohhhhhh

‘ Nisha and Jithin said in a chorus and left the place.

Anju called to Vinay and Vinay said he was almost there. He asked her to look to the right and she was able to see him waving his hands out of his car from the traffic signal.

He got struck up in the signal nearby.

She was about to cross the road to the cafe. Mahesh and his friends were following them in their bikes. Anju saw him and tried to hide her and move quickly to cross the road.

But Mahesh stopped her before she could cross. Anju tried to move away from him. But Mahesh who was in his bike, pulled her duppatta and drove away. Anju lost her balance because of that and hit against a car that was passing by.

Vinay was a few meters away, when all this happened and he was terrified to see her thrown away. Looking at this Mahesh and his friends raced away from that place. They were crossing Jithin’s car ,100 meters from there which was also struck up in the traffic and Nisha found Anju’s duppatta in his hands. She knew something was wrong and they both got down from the car and ran towards Anjana. Everything happened within minutes.

Vinay was shell shocked seeing this. He ran towards her but she was almost unconscious and badly hurt. She was bleeding a lot. Vinay lifted her in his arms and started running towards his car. By then Nisha and Jithin were there and they were rushing to the nearby hospital.

‘Anjana!!! Anju!!! Do you hear me!!! i’ve come da !!! You’ll be alright’

He was screaming holding her in his arms. Jithin drove the car to the hospital and as soon as they reached Vinay carried her inside . They took her into the ICU.

Vinay was shivering now!!! Nisha and Jithin tried to console him but he couldn’t.
Nisha’s parents came in an hour and by then the doctors came out.

They said that Anju’s left knee had a major dislocation and needs immediate surgery. She had a minor fracture in lower jaw and right shoulder. But the serious thing came later when they looked at the scan reports. There was a small blood clot near the brain. The doctors said that they need to do a surgery for that immediately.

Vinay almost lost his heart beat for a moment .He was completely in tears. He urged the doctors to do the surgery as soon as possible and save her at any cost.

“Vinay thought for a second and the next moment he was riding the cycle fast on the roads… Ravinder, Rajiv and Karthik didn’t know what he was doing and were shouting behind!!

Vinay never heard them and he was pedaling so fast, following her.

Anju didn’t notice him following her, so she was driving at a constant speed.

Vinay was following her by a distance and tried his best to catch her but she had almost reached the temple and he was half a km away.

Anju’s family members were there already and she was late to the pooja, so she rushed into the temple.

Vinay reached the temple physically exhausted but still he was desperate to see her and he ran into the temple.

Murali uncle was there in the front and as soon as Vinay noticed him, he stopped running and casually walked in. He was surprised to see Vinay there and he took him to his family members gathered there for the pooja.

Anju was there standing in the front closing her eyes and praying sincerely
Vinay loved it

he waved his hands towards Amutha who was standing near Anju and she gave him a big smile and ran towards him. Vinay lifted her and kept her in his arms.

Anju didn’t notice Vinay, who was standing behind. The pooja got over and she turned back and to her surprise Vinay was there. She smiled at him and continued to walk with Nalini aunty around the temple.

Vinay wanted to talk to her but every
one was there and that was impossible.

He lay down and prayed to the god. His mobile dropped from his front pocket.
He didn’t notice that and started to walk around the temple behind her.Amutha took that and she ran towards Anju.

“Anju ka Vinay mama (brother-in-law) has dropped his mobile and here it is You go and give him” and she ran away.

All her family members were talking to Vinay and were ready to leave. Anju’s dad asked her talk a few words with him, before leaving

They all got into the cars and Anju walked towards Vinay to say bye.

Anju’s dad told his family members that she has agreed for the marriage
All were so happy and immediately Murali(Anju’s uncle) called to Ravinder to say this.

Ravinder(Vinay’s uncle) also said that Vinay was happy and Vinayakam grandpa was already looking for an auspicious day for the engagement and marriage

The marriage was fixed after 3 months to suit both their horoscopes and the engagement was on the next month.

Vinay couldn’t sleep that whole night lying outside the farm house. He was looking at the skies and was dreaming about her

They were leaving the next day to Chennai and Vinay was desperate to meet her before he leaves.

Anju was also in the same state something impressed her a lot towards Vinay . She never thought she would fall for a guy!!!

She was surprised that a single day had changed her mind and now she felt desperate in getting married to Vinay

“Ivan yaaru ivan yaaru vanthathu etharkaga!!!
Sirkindaraan rasikindraan enakkae enakkaga !!!
Enna aachu enakku theriyavillai..
En moochin kaachal kurayavillai”

The next day Morning Vinay was ready when Rajiv and Karthik just woke up. He urged them to get ready soon and they reluctantly got ready to go out.

Vinay had no plans and didn’t know how to meet her.

Ravinder uncle was there.“Guys! If you’re free why don’t we go for a walk through our farms. I will show you some good sights ”Ravinder said.

Rajiv whispered to Vinay “hmm.. Would he be able to show you you’re sight ” and laughed .

Vinay said reluctantly “sure uncle“.

All four were walking along the fields and Ravinder was explaining them about the agriculture and all.

Vinay was not in a mood for all these. He was still thinking for a chance to meet her again.

Muthiah was coming in a cycle towards them. He was a labor working in the farms for years and he had known Vinay from his childhood (8 years elder to Vinay). He was happy to see Vinay grown up. Vinay was still able to recollect the childhood days when Muthiah used to take him in his cycle around the farms .

They both were talking for a while when the others continued to walk into the fields.
A Scooty was coming on their way. When it came closer Vinay found that it was Anju who was driving that and Amutha was sitting behind.

Anju gave a big smile seeing Vinay and passed on slowly. She was surprised to see him but she couldn’t stop as the others were also there.

Vinay was still in that sweet shock and was watching her pass by!! He was standing there like a statue looking at her.

He then rushed to Muthiah“

Muthu… Where does this road lead to? “

“To the temple chinnayya… 3miles from here
